How we protect your students
AIKSHA was built privacy-first by architecture, not just by policy. This page explains what we collect, what we don't, and what schools control.
What we never collect from students
- No email addresses or passwords for students
- No home addresses, phone numbers, or photos
- No payment information from students or parents
- No location data or device identifiers
What students see when they log in
Students log in with their first name and a class code provided by their teacher (e.g., CLASS6A). The session is a signed cookie that expires after 8 hours — by default, the school day. Nothing else is stored.
Where chat conversations live
Chat history is stored only in the school's own deployment (Redis), capped at 5,000 entries per class, and accessible only to staff via a dashboard. If you choose the local vLLM option, no chat data ever leaves the school network.
What teachers and administrators control
- Rotate class codes per term
- Audit any student question, with full export to CSV
- Delete the entire history with a one-line command
- Choose between Azure OpenAI (cloud) or vLLM (on-prem) for the LLM
Compliance posture
AIKSHA aligns with India's DPDP Act 2023 obligations for processing children's personal data: school is the data fiduciary, AIKSHA is a data processor, and consent is collected via the school's existing processes.
